Bad astronomy is not all bad, it would seem.

Hello everyone. I hope you had a good new year celebration and are ready to take on the challenges of the next 365.25 day solar cycle.

Solar Cycle you say?

I have stumbled across a fantastic new blog that I think those of you who share my nerdy disposition wi really enjoy. It is called badastronomy, and I will be placing it in my blogroll for easy reference. This was started by astronomer Dr. Phil Plait. He uses the website to shed light on bad science and scientific issues from around the country, and beyond. way, way, way beyond. Like extra-solar beyond.

Anyway, he wrote a fantastic article about the new year. I mean, what exactly is a year anyway?

“Some time later, the Earth has moved in a big circle and is back to where it started in reference to those stars. That’s called a “sidereal year” (sidus is the Latin word for star).”

Yeah. Read the article. I hope that you enjoy his blog, I know that I do.

Jeremy should not be allowed to touch electronics, especially those attached to the internets, when he is drunk. As such, if you got a nonsensical and/or extremely poorly typed message/email/text message/voicemail last night or this morning, I apologize.

I hope you all had a good new year! Heres to 2008.
